Head Of Strategy Full Time Hybrid

Our client is a dynamic Platform Engineering firm with origins in expert bespoke consulting. Over the years, it has grown to a team of 40 consultants. The company has identified the following initiatives to increase its sustainability, scalability and valuation,

  1. Develop product-market-fit for outbound messaging to drive consulting leads.
  2. Develop a scalable, software based training product for platform engineering.
  3. Develop a high-value, low-cost product offering of 1, leveraging our expertise.
  4. Develop a world-class platform engineering support service.

The following is a list of some of the activities required to achieve these initiatives.

  • Elevate user satisfaction by offering top-notch, cost-effective support services that directly tie into our training and developer platform products.
  • Seamlessly integrate support services into our consulting offerings, creating a holistic client experience that fosters long-term relationships and recurring revenue streams.
  • Implement a scalable revenue model for premium support services, ensuring clients have access to our quality engineers for in-depth assistance. This premium tier contributes to recurring revenue and potentially funds internal product development.
  • Provide clients with a lower-costentry point to access our skilled engineers for a spectrum of needs, reinforcing our commitment to comprehensive client support.
  • Leverage the support service as a catalyst for client retention, making our companythe go-to solution for ongoing platform engineering needs.
  • Position the support service as not only a revenue generator but also a means to fund internal product development, aligning with our vision for sustained growth and innovation.
  • Enable clients to tap into our pool of skilled engineers for diverse assistance, fostering a collaborative environment and reinforcing our position as industry leaders.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators, ensuring the support service aligns with our overarching goal of providing end-to-end solutions and driving profitability.


Responsibilities

Visionary Leadership:

  • Demonstrate the ability to both grasp and create visions for the organisation, aligning them with the company’s long-term goals and market trends.
  • Work closely with the CEO to shape and evolve the overall strategic vision, ensuring it inspires and guides the organisation’s growth.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate with the executive team, particularly the CEO, to develop and refine the company’s overall
    strategic vision.
  • Take ownership of executing agreed-upon strategies, ensuring alignment with the broader goals and
    objectives of the organisation.
  • Drive the implementation of strategic initiatives, overseeing the development of both the Training and
    Developer Platform Product lines.

Diversification and Recurring Revenue:

  • Analyse current revenue streams and identify opportunities for developing new, recurring revenue models.
  • Explore subscription-based services, retainer models, or other forms of ongoing revenue to create a more predictable income stream.
  • Work on the development of new service offerings that complement the existing consulting business,
    fostering repeat business.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance client satisfaction and loyalty, reducing churn and increasing the
    lifetime value of each client.
  • Introduce customer success programs, regular check-ins, and additional value-added services to strengthen
    client relationships.

Market Expansion and Strategic Partnerships:

  • Conduct market research to identify potential areas for expansion, both geographically and within different
    industry sectors.
  • Develop entry strategies for new markets and guide the organisation in expanding its footprint.
  • Identify and forge strategic partnerships or alliances that complement the organisation’s strengths and open up
    new avenues for collaboration.

Digital Transformation and Productization:

  • Assess the organisation’s current technological capabilities and explore opportunities for digital
    transformation.
  • Implement technology solutions that can streamline internal processes, enhance service delivery, and provide
    a competitive edge.
  • Explore opportunities to productize the organisation’s expertise and intellectual property, generating
    additional revenue.

Talent Development and Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Work on strategies to attract and retain top talent, ensuring the organisation has the necessary skills to deliver
    high-quality services.
  • Implement training programs, mentorship initiatives, and career development pathways.
  • Implement data analytics and business intelligence tools to inform strategic decisions and capitalise on
    emerging opportunities.

Agile Response to Market Changes:

  • Foster an agile and adaptive organisational culture that can respond quickly to changes in the market.
  • Develop contingency plans and scenario analyses to ensure the organisation can navigate economic
    uncertainties or shifts in client needs effectively.

    Execution Excellence:

  • Take a hands-on approach to ensure the successful implementation of strategies and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate exceptional execution capabilities, drawing on past experience in scaling startups or contributing
    to large-scale success.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of strategic planning and execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in scaling startups to exits or achieving significant growth.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to both grasp and create visions, with a primary focus on transferring the inspiration of a vision to the wider organisation.
  • Previous experience in sales and an understanding of the technology industry is a plus.
